Playbill
For the New York Philharmonic production of Candide, with a three-day turnaround but an exceptionally astute client who knew how to evaluate and respond. Somehow we were allowed to partially obscure the Playbill logo. This also became the cover of the DVD.

Community Research Initiative on AIDS (CRIA)
Die-cut two-color fund raising invitation channeling Alexander Girard. I really loved working with this group.

CRIA
Fundraising reply card for CRIA. Magenta and yellow ONLY.

Tribeca Open Artists Studio Tour
I asked then studio-mate Pablo Medina, who looked great in a blazer, to do an “executive walk” and look like he was reading the Artwalk map, which was a handy self-mailer with a long list of participating galleries and artists.

Tribeca Open Artists Studio Tour
Anyone who walked into the studio got their legs, shoes and boots photographed. I can’t remember who had the high-heeled boots. Self-mailing map with gallery listings and ads.

Ten Tall Tales About the Men I Love
Paperback which some people (writing to the author) completely loved and a similar number completely hated. Who knew underpants could have haters?

Stolen image from a wooden wine crate is either Fornasetti…uncredited…or perhaps the image he originally liberated. Printed in two colors on a Print Gocco, a tiny silk-screen maker powered by Polaroid flashbulbs. No longer available, sadly. Very limited run of Valentines for friends.

Shoptalk/34TH STREET PARTNERSHIP
Many newsletters for the 34th Street Partnership, a cousin of the 42nd Street Partnership. Two colors only, so all the art had to be drawn with two layers…sounds so simple now, but this was back with Quark. The readers were the store owners and merchants in the area, which was seen to need a cleanup.

Approved Traffic Control Manual/NYCDOT
For years after I did this project, I would critique the placement of traffic cones at street repair sites. The inside pages are lost in the mists of history, and should stay that way, but I always loved this cover. Move over Andy, there’s a new Mao in town.
